MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOPS
Somerstage is delighted to offer a large selection of workshops annually usually taking place in school holidays varying from 2 days up to 5 days in the summer break. Our workshops usually culminate in a performance for parents and carers using state of the art lighting, sound and projections on the McMillan Theatre Stage. Previous workshops vary from variety shows such as 'Back to the Musicals' and 'West End to the Westcountry' to specific themed workshops like 'Encanto', 'Mamma Mia' and High School Musical.

SIX THE MUSICAL (SOLD OUT)
February Half Term saw a right royal extravaganza as we celebrated the pop musical phenomenon that is ‘Six’. We Sang like Boleyn and learnt the incredible songs. The acting was more than up to ‘Parr’ as we explored the amazing characters and brought this historical reimagining to life with epic dance routines.

'GREATEST SHOW' WORKSHOP HUGE SUCCESS
Our 'Greatest Show' workshop saw 50 students put on a full performance in 4 days at The McMillan Theatre with songs and scenes from The Greatest Showman, Shrek and Matilda. Guest teacher and Mamma Mia star Eleanor Brown put students through their paces with choreography, scenes and song taught at a professional pace and standard.

You Say "My daughter took part in the "Greatest Show" course this week and has absolutely loved it. She has been incredibly excited every morning to get up and go to The McMillan Theatre and has been singing herself to sleep every night. It has been a joy to see her grow in confidence, make new friends and learn new skills as the week has progressed and the final show brought tears to my eyes".
'WICKED WORKSHOPS' DEFY GRAVITY
Our 'Wicked Workshops' allowed students to spend 'One Short Day' with the music, songs and scenes of the musical Wicked. Students had the opportunity to learn choreography in the style of the show and put it together with song. We also spent time learning about the characters and what drives the story forward in this prelude to the Wizard of Oz.
