FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS IT SAFE?
At SOMERSTAGE we take the safety of our students very seriously. All of our teaching staff have their own liability insurance with Equity and are fully DBS checked. Each staff member has a level one Safeguarding qualification. SOMERSTAGE and The McMillan have clear Data Protection, Health and Safety, Fire and Safeguarding policies. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or would like to see our policies. First Aiders are on site at all times and the main entrance is manned continuously. All students are signed in and out and only released with a parent or guardian present after classes finish (unless agreed prior with older students).
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Students will be put into three classes of the relevant age group. Each class will rotate around the 3 disciplines of Acting, Singing and Dancing over the course of the three hour session. Each term will be working to a specific goal of improvement.
Each term we will be bringing in a West End star who will take a workshop learning material from a West End show.
SOMERSTAGE will also be running reasonably priced extra workshops in half terms, Easter and Summer Holidays with different themes. Previous workshops include 'The Greatest Show' and 'Wicked Workshops', learning and performing material from your favourite shows.
CAN I SEE A PERFORMANCE?
The great thing about being based at The McMillan is that our students benefit from the theatre itself. We will be putting on regular performances for parents and guardians to see the progression in the three disciplines.
